2025 draws to a close (I keep writing 2005, which I guess says where my brain is still at) and I figure I owe both of y’all who read this an update after a very quiet year. This will be the first year I haven’t published a book in about 10 years of writing, which isn’t great. Hell, I see as I write this that I haven't even updated this blog in over a year. There were a lot of little things that built up to contribute to this, but the biggest was that we lost my father to dementia. He’s still alive, mind you, but he’s never coming back to us. And that hurts. A lot.
So, tell those that you love that you love them every chance you get, because you never know when it’s the last time you'll get to say it.
And now back to writing related stuff.
Rites of Passage EP
Music obviously plays a big role in the Inner Circle series, and I had planned to treat every book like the LP, which meant I would release short stories in advance of new releases and call them the EP. Which probably only makes sense to those of us old enough to have bought albums in stores instead of streaming them. These short stories are meant to tie up loose ends and explore plotlines that don’t really warrant inclusion in the main books, but are still pretty fun. So, although these stories are cannon, they are still supplemental in that you won’t need to read them to know what’s going on.
But anyway, I finally finished the EP that’s supposed to bridge books one and two. It’s a little Christmas ditty, so I figured I’d release it here on the website during the Christmas season. Look for it either this week or next.

Book 3: Electric City Switches
I’ve been working on this one for over a year, and I’m hoping to have it out by March of 2026. If only I can get my ass in gear enough to write the blurb. WHICH IS THE HARDEST PART OF ANY BOOK! This book was also pretty difficult because I worked with a living culture that wasn’t my own for the first time, which is like writing left-handed with your eyes crossed. It really challenged me, and I guess we’ll see if all that extra challenge pays off.
This one is loosely based on the movie Blown Away, and will see Corbin having to disarm deadly enchantments set by Isaac’s ex-girlfriend as the two of them play a deadly game of cat-and-mouse. Also, it will include a character mentioned in passing in book one, who I wrote a show about almost two decades ago, which clearly never got picked up. But I digress.
Anthology
An Inner Circle short story will be included in an upcoming anthology that hasn’t been announced yet. But it includes some pretty cool people, so I’m pretty stoked. And I’ll say that it also involves Isaac, the ex-girlfriend from book three, and the last concert of one of my favorite bands.

Ghost Stations EP?
I have a story planned that should bridge books 2 & 3 that involves what Corbin and Kirin get up to Valentine’s Day before she blows town for good. Now if only I can write it.
Book 4: Creature Comforts
I’m already at work on book four of the series, which will take place in my hometown of Dallas and involve the 2008 financial crisis, frakking, illicit trade in fantastical creatures, and some of Texas’ finest barbeque joints. Hopefully this will flow easier since I’m working closer to my wheelhouse.
Sol’s Harvest Turns 10!
This is the series that I cut my teeth on nearly a decade ago. It’s rough in some places, and there were definitely some growing pains, but damn do I love this thing. I’m going to put an omnibus version together, and maybe even a version that’s the whole story told in chronological order.
