Massive Map and Worldbuilding Updates

I recently received a very kind Goodreads review where she said my worldbuilding was so strong I probably knew the best place to grow grapes in my created world. This was the second compliment I received on worldbuilding within the week (and then a third!), which has me thinking on the concept as a whole. It also has me planning several posts in the near future looking at worldbuilding on a macro level along with critiques as to how to assess it.

But before I get all that out, I realized I needed to step up my worldbuilding game here on the site. So I invite you check out my MAPS section I updated all this afternoon.

So yeah, that's a lot to read. Like about 15 single-spaced pages by my count. And yeah, I know exactly how many it is because they've been typed up for a few years now. As I explained before, I created this world via a bible long before I sat down with my story for book one. And this has been a living document I've been updating as I wrote books 1 & 2. Which made putting all this info up on the site really, really easy since I just copied/ pasted and then cut out anything spoilery.

You should still probably read book one before you look at all this though. Or just send me money directly if you're so inclined. Either way.

Anyways, this is sort of a placeholder post since all the real work is on the permanent side of my site. But if you've read the book(s), this is a good place to look up anything you were ever confused about. And I even throw in some Dobra vocabulary that will be important in book 2.

Oh, and I'm particularly proud of how the map expands when you click on a region. After much gnashing of teeth and rending of garments, I realized I could just overlay close-ups on top of the larger map to click on. So if anything looks a little buggy on the macro scale, now you know why.

MD Presley is a screenwriter, blogger and occasional novelist… which basically means he’s a layabout. But if you’ve ever got a hankering for some grimdark gunpowder fantasy with a female anti-hero, I have a suggestion...

And feel free to follow him on the facebook. He won't consider it stalkery behavior at all.
