Writing Resources Update

The first thing the marketing books tell you when you sit down and decide to write a blog is that no one cares what you think unless you’re already famous.

It sucks, but it’s true.

So being as that you’re not a famous blogger when you begin your blog, you’re next strategy to get an audience is to PROVIDE VALUE. Seems pretty simple, right? People show up to your corner of the internet because they get something from you, be it humor, reviews of products, or resources.

When I started this site, I only had two categories: Screenplay Techniques Adapted for the Novel (STAN) and Payday Stories. The stories in the world of Ayr were supposed to be a thank you for fans of the books already (though they still haven’t taken off), while STAN was to establish my authority/ authenticity as an author as well as provide resources to keep readers coming back.* And the latter seems to have worked, judging by my page hits. These STAN posts are what you call evergreen in that people are always searching for ways to better their writing.

Anyways, STAN has progressed far enough by now that I’m compiling them all in one place HERE in RESOURCES and will continue to add to them when I broach new subjects. As I was listing them out, I realized I’ve never even scratched the surface of a rough draft or editing. So look for those in the near future.

Also, I take requests.

Now as to their order, I’ve been releasing them kind of randomly, but am cataloging them in the order I go through. This is my process, but, as I said in my inaugural STAN post long ago, find what works for you and do that.

Footnote: While Bugbear BBQ, Playlists and SPFBO Brackets were all resources that never really took off. But I love them and won't shutter them quite yet. Odes and my random drinking games I do for fun and will never quit. No matter how often people ask me to...

Critical Hits exists because I have incriminating photos about poor Mr. Olesen.
